Care Instructions

Kindred Label shoes are meant to be well loved and worn for many years. Below are the care instructions to help you do that.

  • Clean regularly: Wipe your leather sandals with a soft, damp cloth to remove any surface dirt or dust. This should be done after each wear to prevent buildup.

  • Use a leather cleaner: For deeper cleaning, use a leather cleaner specifically formulated for footwear. Follow the instructions on the cleaner and gently apply it to the leather, using a soft brush or cloth. Wipe off any excess cleaner and allow the sandals to dry naturally.

  • Avoid water damage: Leather sandals should be kept away from excessive moisture. If your sandals do get wet, pat them dry with a soft towel and allow them to air dry in a cool, well-ventilated area. Avoid using heat sources such as direct sunlight or hairdryers, as they can damage the leather.

    • Suede is highly sensitive to water and can easily become stained or damaged when wet. Apply a waterproofing spray specifically designed for suede to create a protective barrier against moisture. Make sure to follow the product instructions and reapply as needed.

  • Apply leather conditioner: To keep the leather supple and prevent it from drying out or cracking, apply a leather conditioner or cream. Follow the product instructions and apply a thin, even layer to the sandals. Allow the conditioner to absorb into the leather before wearing them again.

  • Protect from direct sunlight: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can fade and damage the leather and also the glue used when manufacturing the shoes. When not in use, store your leather sandals in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.

  • Avoid extreme temperatures: Leather is sensitive to extreme temperatures. Avoid exposing your sandals to extreme heat or cold, as it can cause the leather to warp or crack. Store them in a climate-controlled environment.

  • Avoid abrasive materials: Keep your leather sandals away from rough or abrasive surfaces, as they can scratch or scuff the leather. Be cautious while walking on gravel, concrete, or rough terrain.

  • Handle with care: Treat your leather sandals with care to prevent damage. Avoid pulling or tugging forcefully on straps or buckles. If a buckle or strap becomes loose, have it repaired promptly to prevent further damage.

  • Professional cleaning and repair: If your leather sandals are heavily stained, damaged, or in need of major repairs, it's best to take them to a professional shoe repair shop. They have the expertise to restore and revitalize your sandals effectively.

  • Note on the Magnets: Kindred shoes featuring our signature fold contain rare earth magnets embedded into the soles. Because of this, the shoes should never be fully immersed in water. This can cause the magnets to erode and loose their magnetic pull. If the magnets do get wet, please allow the shoes to fully dry before wearing them next.
